California North Referee Administration (NRA) will open up new Entry Level courses for new referee certification. All courses will still feature a digital field session instead of an in-person field session until further notice. Monterey Condors Club will provide additional training to referees, the digital field session provided by CNRA is mandatory and will meet that portion of the certification requirements. Grassroots cost is $75.
Referee registration still opens until June 15th, 2021.
First Time Grassroots Referees completing registration through the Learning Center must complete the following requirements.
- Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments – 1 hr.
- SafeSport (if 18 years or older)- 1 hr.
- Online Grassroots Referee Course Module – 4.5 hr.
- First Time Grassroots Referee Quiz – 45 mins.
- U.S. Soccer Federation Gold Standard NCSI Background Check (if 18 years or older)
- Additional State Assignments as required

General Referee Responsibilities:
Enforce rules, assess penalties, signal the start and end of games, stop play for reviews as needed and inspect sports equipment prior to the start of games.
GRASSROOTS REFEREE (FORMERLY GRADES 9, 8, AND 7)
A referee’s journey begins at the Grassroots level. U.S. Soccer Grassroots Referees are qualified to officiate competitive, small-sided, or recreational youth matches and amateur adult matches.

All referees must enter their personal information in order to ref for our soccer games in the recreational and competitive program. Make sure you enter your information correctly.
All US Soccer referee grades require annual recertification. Advanced referee grades have fitness, testing, and inservice attendance requirements.
